Initial design & booking your build slot

The first stage of your conversion is about us getting to know you and understanding your needs. We want to understand your camper prioritise. Is it keeping your three pugs warm and safe, or being able to keep your road bike inside the van while you sleep? We will arrange an initial meeting where you will come in and discuss your ideas with the conversions team. Any designs or even rough sketches that you might have are very welcome, anything that might help us bring your ideas to life. Your Conversion Manager will go through the quotation process and give you an idea of what is possible. For a more bespoke builds we may arrange a meeting with the team who build the van, they will be able to finalise the layout with you. Once you are happy with the build you will be able to book your build slot. Lead times can be up to 6 months in peak times so be sure to discuss with the RV team as soon as possible.

Choosing your van and bringing it to RV for conversion

You will usually arrange for your van to be delivered to RV Campers a few days before your build slot. This means that the van is here ready for the team to work on from 9am on the first day of your build. When your van arrives with us we fill out a full comprehensive damage report. Not found your van yet? The vans that we convert come in all shapes and sizes. Some are brand new VW T6's, others are classic Citrons. We can help you source your van by looking up and down the UK for the best deal, sometimes this is in trade auctions, other times eBay has the best deals. Alternatively you can come to us with a van ready for conversion. The vans that we have converted in the past include (but are not limited to)

  • Volkswagen Transporter - T4, T5 & T6
  • Volkswagen Caddy
  • Classic Volkswagen - splitscreen & T2
  • Renault Traffic
  • Mercedes Sprinter
  • Bongo
  • Nissan
  • Fiat

Average build time: 9 weeks

(Average build time for a standard VW T5 Camper, subject to change, bespoke builds can take longer)

Collecting your camper.

Now for the most exciting part of any conversion. The handover! During the build you will have been kept up to date on your camper by your conversions manager. They will have sent you image and kept in constant contact throughout your conversion. Once we are nearing the end of the conversion your manager will call you to arrange collection. On the day you will arrive and deal with the paperwork first, if it is a new van we will deal with the V5 and also discuss the change of use needed for the DVLA. Once that is sorted you will be taken out to see your new van. Your conversion manager will then give you a full indepth tutorial on how your new campervan works. Once you are happy, you are ready to drive away! You will no doubt have questions after your first trip. By this time you will have gotten to know the RV Campers team very well, we are all on hand at anytime to help.
